Westmount, one of the most prestigious residential
communities of Canada, extends on the southern slope
from the Royal mount, not far from the downtown area
of Montreal. Today, Westmount is a residential enclave
within the territory of the Montreal Urban Community
(MUC) in Quebec, Canada. It lies within walking
distance of the downtown core of Montreal, yet retains
an air of tranquility and small-town community. The
borough counts in particular the parks Murray and
Westmount which offer complete entertaining services
and the Summit park which is a natural reserve. At the
center of Summit Park is a bird sanctuary with walking
trails. There's no bus service to the park, and it's quite
a climb by foot. By car you'll pass the mansions of
Montreal's wealthy.
The wealthiest in Canada, it is predominantly English
speaking (about 70%), it is famous for its fabulous
Victorian architecture. The city is divided into two parts:
the lower Westmount, between The Boulevard avenue
and Sherbrooke avenue, where some streets like
Mountain Street have the country charm in the heart of
the city. The upper Westmount occupies one of the
mountain's three summits and boasts a plethora of
stunning mansions. Both halves feature leafy streets
lined by fabulous architecture.
